Schutt Sr., Raymond M.
Raymond M. Schutt Sr., 58 of Waverly left this life on June 2nd at Robert Packer Hospital surrounded by his loving family and best friend Wayne Searles.He was born in Newark NY on September 29, 1950 to Warren and Edith (Allen) Schutt. He attended Waverly High School and entered the U. S. Navy where he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was employed by Agway/Hagen Pet Foods Inc. of Waverly, for 34 years. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jan (Belles) Schutt. Son and wife, Vincent and LuAnn Toomey of Athens, PA. Daughter and husband, Lynn and Scott Shumin of Waverly, NY. Son and wife Raymond Jr. (Marty) and Lynn Schutt of Waverly, NY. Also survived by his Grandchildren; Christopher (Amanda) Shumin of Barton, Marissa (Robert) Stevens of Waverly, Haley Shumin of Maine Endwell, NY and Caitlyn Shumin of Waverly. Heather and Stephanie Anderson of Athens, Vanessa and Zachary Toomey of Athens. Tyler Schouten of Waverly, Brooke, Elizabeth and Sophia Schutt of Waverly. Along with a Great Grandson, Darrell Canning of Athens and Great-Granddaughter, Paige-Marie Shumin of Barton. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Wanda.
A time for gathering with family and friends will be from 3-5 PM, Friday, June 5, 2009 and 10-11 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. The celebration of Ray's life will follow the visitation with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield honoring his memory at 11 AM. A full military service will be held at the funeral home after the funeral service. Burial will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Stray Haven Humane Society, 194 Shephard Road, Waverly, New York 14892. Those wishing may send a sympathy message of remembrance for Ray's family.
