Biography
Slife, Frederick DuaneFrederick Duane Slife 60 a life long valley resident
The angels came durning the early morning hours of March 27th at Fred's home to take take him to the Lord.
Fred was born on February 25, 1950 in Kingston, Pa. He was the son of the late Leo Duane and Dona Allen Slife.
He was married to Connie Simonds Slife on January 7, 1978 and they shared 32 loving years together.
Fred and Connie owned and operated the Waverly Newstand for the past five years. He will be sadly missed by so many of his new and old friends from the store.
Fred was an avid gardner; he loved his flowers and his yard work with a passion. he also had a passion for playing his guitar every Saturday night with his life long friends Steve Moore and John Savacool. Most of all, Fred loved spending time with his family. His family was his life.
Fred is survived by his wife Connie Simonds Slife; daughters Cody (Brian) Wurst of Chesapeake, Va, Cali Marlene Slife at home, and son Derek John Slife of Elmira, NY; brothers John A. Slife of Paintsville, Ky and William "Jeff" Slife of Hawley, Pa.; Father-in-law and mother-in-law Thomas and Helen Simonds of Sayre, Pa; Brothers-in-laws , thomas (Sharon) Simonds Jr. of Lockwood, NY and richard (Yvonne) Simonds of Athens, Pa.; a special cousin Sue Allen Dodd (Frank) Rechner of Phoenixville, PA. and several Nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at 10 AM on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at the first Presbyterian Church 459 Park Ave., Waverly, NY for vistation in the social hall followed by the service to honor Fred in the Sanctuary at 11AM. astor Cynthia will officate. A luncheon will be held following the service
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society: Attn Relay for Life of Norfork and Virginia Beach 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452 or to the First Presbyterian Church 459 Park Ave., Waverly, NY 14892.
