Biography

Casselbury, Harriet E. 

Our special angel , our mom Harriett E. Casselbury passed away on Wednesday May 19, 2010 at the Bradford County Manor. She joins our father the late Walter Casselbury who passed away on September 23, 1976. Their memories will live forever in our hearts.

Harriet was born in Providence RI to George and Eliza (Clegg) Richards on July 21, 1921. She had been a member of the Drybrook Community Church for 28 years. She loved time spent with her family, she enjoyed her flower garden, polka music dancing, shuffleboard, sewing pot holders that she shared with family and friends.Harriett was employed at Label Processing until she retired.

Harriet met her future husband on a blind date they married on October 2, 1942 in Providence RI.

Harriett is survived by her daughters Evelyn (Ron) Belcher of Monroeton Pa., Carol (James) Skerpon of Sayre Pa. Sons Walter (Pat) Casselbury of Waverly, NY, Raymond (Linda) Casselbury of VanEtten NY, Donald (Pam) Casselbury of Waverly, NY, and Richard Casselbury of Chemung NY. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mildred Pierce of RI, many special nieces and nephews. Sister-in-laws Rosa Shafer of LeRaysville PA, Gertrude Hitchcock of Stevensville Pa.,and Delina Casselbury of Laceyville Pa.Brother-in-laws and sister-in-law Francis and Dorothy Casselbury of Wyalusing Pa.

Harriet is predeceaded by her father George Richards on March 18, 1963 her mother Eliza Richards on October 24, 1986, her brothers George Richards July 13, 1979, Ernie Richards June 30, 2008 and Charlie Richards on September 22, 1969. Husband Walter Casselbury September 23, 1976, grandson Robert Casselbury on March 18, 1976 great granddaughter Ryleigh Casselbury in 2006 and a granddaugter Velicia (Casselbury) Comfort January 6, 2010.

A time of gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday May 21, 2010 from 1-2 PM at the Blauvelt Funeral Home 625 Broad St., Waverly NY. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM after calling hours at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, NY
