Biography
Benjamin, Geraldine L.Geraldine (Gerry) L. Benjamin, age 72, of Athens Pa. passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 28, 2010.
Born, December 27, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Gerry was the daughter of George and Eleanor Ruger.
After her family relocated to the Elmira area Gerry graduated high school from Elmira Free Academy in 1955. She then married Jack Benjamin, also of Elmira, NY, on June 22, 1957 and started a family.
She was a self-employed beautician in both Elmira, NY and Athens, Pa. for over twenty years and worked for several employers in the Valley area until her retirement from Elderwood Nursing Facility on January 2, 2009.
Gerry is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, of forty-five years, Jack Benjamin.
She is survived by four children, Scott (Marybeth) Benjamin of Lockwood, NY, Shelley (Charles) Rudloff of Sayre, PA., Sonya (Timothy) Davidson of Athens, PA., and Steven (Deborah) Benjamin of Waverly, NY.; eight grandchildren, Nichole (Thomas) Cocco of Waverly, Jacob Benjamin of Waverly, Chase and Brooke Benjamin of Lockwood, Christa (Kevin) Frantz of Sayre, Bryan Rudloff of Sayre, Matthew and Michael Davidson of Athens.; One great grandchild, Alexis Cocco of Waverly; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Dombroske of Elmira, Marilyn Ruger of Elmira, a brother William (Cindy) Ruger of NC., a sister-in-law, Loretta (Edward) Kukaitis of Towanda, PA., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry loved children of all ages, flowers of all types, and the arts in all mediums. She was a consummate ballerina and loved to paint with pastels and water color. Gardening was her passion and her family was her life. She will be deeply missed by many.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Blauvelt Funeral Home 625 Broad St Waverly NY.
