Anna E. Cole, 86 of Athens passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Rosa Chilson Lee; sisters, Genevieve (Elmer) Clark, Eugenia Lee, Mildred (Warren) Brown, Beatrice (Albert) Simons; and brothers, Cameron Lee and Jacob Lee, and Clayton Lee; sister-in-law, Dianne Lee; and her granddaughter-in-law, Tammi Harrigan.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Aubrey Bernard Cole Sr.; children, David (Chris) Cole of Sayre, Glenda (Bill) Harrigan of Towanda, Mary Harrigan of Athens, Aubrey (Beth) Cole Jr of Athens, Daniel (Lynne) Cole of Wellsburg, and Judy (J.D.) Gibbs of Duxbury, MA; sisters, Ruth (Kenneth) Shipman, Susan (Dick) Comstock; brothers, Bob Lee, Perry Lee, Joseph (Jeannine) Lee; sisters-in-law, Jean Lee and Grace Lee; grandchildren, Samantha Cole, Megan Cole, Cole Harrigan, Ashley Tunnicliff, Michael Harrigan, Wendy and Matthew Harrigan, Erin VanDyke, Kelsey Dibble, Erica Sutton, Marie, Emily and Carrie Cole, Zachary Cole, and Abigail and Gabrielle Gibbs; great grandchildren, Kohen Harrigan, Dustin, Lindsey and Ashton Harrigan, Ryan, Riley and Lauryn Harrigan, Iris and Shaun VanDyke, Jaelynn Garey, Lily Dibble, Kira Hensley, Zoey and Jake Dowd, Emma and Aiden Cole, and Zachary Renninger; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Anna dearly loved her husband and her many family and friends. She was well-known for her kind heart, her deep faith and compassion, and for always helping family and friends. She adored her family and friends, gardening, sewing and cooking. She made beautiful quilts each fall and winter as gifts, and spent hours in her flower beds, where she felt closest to God, and fruit and vegetable gardens each spring, summer and fall. She spent weeks canning fruits and vegetables and making jams and jellies for gifts. Anna worked at Sayre Lingerie for over forty years, where she made many close, life-long friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A time of calling will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 11 to 1 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Helen Learn officiating and burial to follow in Orange Hill Cemetery in Athens.
