Dale H. Scrivener Sr., 58, of Waverly passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Robert Packer Hospital.
He was predeceased by his father, Daniel Scrivener Sr.; and brother, Daniel Scrivener Jr.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Debbie Scrivener; mother, Dorothy Scrivener of Waverly; children, Malia (Eric) Dersham of Waverly, Amy (Mark) Laich of Waverly and Dale Scrivener Jr of Waverly; siblings, Douglas (Judie) Scrivener of Horseheads, Donald (Barbara) Scrivener of Great Falls, MT, David (Merina) Scrivener of Goodyear, AZ and Darlene (Larry) Katon of Big Rock, TN; grandchildren, Dustin Brady, Kassandra Benjamin, Ashlynn Laich, Markenzee Laich and Declan Dersham; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dale graduated from Waverly High School in 1978 where he was a star track member and he invented the “Scrivy” which is still used in track today. He enjoyed working on cars, it was a passion and he turned that hobby into a career as a well-respected and trusted auto mechanic in the Valley, working at many local repair shops. He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, watching NASCAR, following the Seattle Seahawks, tending to his vegetable garden, going to yard sales, enjoying his backyard and building a campfire for everyone to enjoy. He had a great sense of humor, and was a very generous man who would give anyone the shirt off his back.
A time of calling will begin on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3:00 PM with a memorial service to honor Dale’s life immediately following at Calvary Baptist Church, 701 W. Pine Street, Athens, PA with Pastor Mark Cox officiating.
