Dawn M. Spencer, 87, of Waverly passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Elderwood Nursing Facility in Waverly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Olin C. (O.C.) Spencer; parents, Elbert Raymond and Beatrice Tracy Meade.
Dawn is survived by her children, Candy (Gary) Stilson of Waverly, Cliff (Kathy) Spencer of Athens, Cindy (Jim) Barrett of Waverly, and Craig (Sandy) Spencer of Waverly; grandchildren, Tabatha (Larry) Hughes, Scott Miller, Shannon (Bryson) Gilstrap, Brian Spencer, Jimbo (Laura) Barrett, John Barrett, Brittany Spencer and Nicholas Spencer; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
Dawn was a life time member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Waverly. She retired from Waverly Central Schools as the cafeteria manager after 23 years of service and was a past president of the Waverly American Legion Post #492 Ladies Auxiliary. Dawn enjoyed her flowers and working at Tracy’s Greenhouse in her spare time. She enjoyed driving around in her Lincoln, hanging out at the Jolly Farmer for coffee and donuts with a stop at Ted Clarks. She enjoyed watching her birds, especially her cardinals. Dawn was always sending greeting cards for all occasions to all her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
A time of calling will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY with Rev. Benjamin Lee Lentz officiating and burial to follow at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens.
