Delbert “Huck” M. Huckle Jr., 64 of Waverly, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
He was predeceased by his parents, Delbert Sr and Phyllis Huckle; grandparents, Loretta and Donald Loomis, and Katherine Huckle; brother-in-law, Terry O. Peterson.
Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Patty Huckle; children, Kristi (Dan) Blackman of Waverly, Karen (Shawn) Bradley of Athens, and Lori (Michael) Gross of TX; step-daughter, Denise (Keith) Russell of MS; sister, Toni Jo Peterson of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Karson, Kayla and Dierks; step-grandchildren, Megan and Ashley Russell; nieces, Leah and Julie Peterson, and Kathryn (Felix) Tapia; great niece, Alexandra Jane Tapia; great nephews, Christian Oliver Tapia; along with several cousins.
Huck was a proud business owner of Huckles Towing and Body Shop in Waverly for 43 years. He enjoyed serving the community through his business and his connection to the New York State Police. Huck loved his cars, following NASCAR, rebuilding gas pumps, building street rods and restoring cars. He loved being with his family and hanging out with his friends. He was a member of the ELKS in FL and the Barrington Rod and Rifle Club in Barrington, NY. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #350 in Waverly and the Grace Episcopal Church in Waverly. A special thank you to Robert Packer Hospital’s fifth floor Oncology nurses, the Athens Clinic medical team, and a very special thanks to Wanda Foote, NP.
A time of calling will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. A memorial service to honor Huck’s memory will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 439 Park Ave., Waverly, New York with Pastor Bruce Vanderpool officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in Huck’s name to your local Hospice.
