Donald L. Ganton

Donald L. Ganton, 81 of Watkins Glen passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne Wilfred and Elva Grace Ganton.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Ganton; his children, David Ganton of Interlaken, Donald (Becky) Ganton of OH, Darlene Baumgarner of Belmont, Dennis Ganton of Watkins Glen, and Darren Ganton of Corning; sister, Jean (Dunc) Johnston of New Market Ontario, Canada; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and last, but not least, his four legged companion, Mort.

Don was born in Toronto Canada in 1936 to Lorne and Elva Ganton.  He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Gurman Ganton in 1958. Don worked for Spencer Ford in the body shop for many years before opening his own body shop, Ganton Body Shop, at the home where they raised their family.  He was a member of the Mechanics Club in Montour Falls, the Moose, and a past master of the Myrtle-Jefferson Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #131.  He enjoyed touring with his friends, a good game of golf and a few fishing excursions.  Don enjoyed hanging out in the garage with the many friends that he had made over the years, they always knew they were welcome and the fridge was stocked.
