Biography

Doris G. Draper

Lifetime resident Doris Draper passed away Monday, January 4, 2016.  She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Reeva Peterson, her sister Gertrude Ingalls, her granddaughter Abigail Pierce, and her loving husband of fifty years Harry Draper. 

Doris is survived  by her daughters Diane (Daniel) Shapiro of Hamlin, New York, and Mary Lou (John) Pierce of Denver, Colorado, grandchildren Heidi Reese, Aaron (Wendy) Pierce, and Sarah (Aaron) Reite, and four great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, Anneli, and Clara.

Doris worked several years for Iszards Department Store as a fashion buyer. She gave up her career to be with her husband, Harry, and raise her family.  During this time she taught Sunday School for 25 years at the Waverly First Baptist Church where she provided sanctuary floral arrangements and helped with many craft projects and bazaars there.  She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Robert Packer Hospital (Guthrie) in her later years.  She was a loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed.

 A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M, Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. The celebration of Doris’s life will follow the visitation with the Rev. Steve Dygert honoring her memory at 2:00 P.M..
