Doris R. Dunn, 88, a life-long resident of Waverly, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Born in Waverly on April 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Rider Ayers and Ferol Ayers. Doris was predeceased by her eldest son, Clifton Olsen of San Diego CA, in December 2016; her husband, Kenneth Dunn; her sister, Virginia Ayers; brother, Paul Ayers; and aunt, Esther Personius, all of Waverly, NY.
Doris is survived by her sister and best friend, Jeanette Ayers of Waverly NY; sister, Shirley (Robert) Taylor of Rochester NY; sister, Sandra Burner of Bridgewater, CT and Winter Harbor ME; and brother, Rodney (Virginia) Ayers of Culpepper, VA; her children are Marveen (James) Stanko of Barneveld NY, Lorraine Olsen of Lake Worth FL, Ronald Olsen of Waverly NY, and Jennifer(Harrison) Hill of Waverly, NY; her grandchildren are Tracy (Rebecca) Stanko of Deerfield NY., Gwendolyn (Alberto) Sivirichi of Ellicott City MD, Jacqueline Hill of Buffalo, NY, Harrison M. Hill of Buffalo, NY, and Paul L Olsen of Englewood, FL. She also has five great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Doris was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Waverly and the Barton Grange. She retired from the Guthrie Clinic as a receptionist in the Hematology Dept. She enjoyed her home, her cat, Frannie, baking and playing games and puzzles.
A time of calling will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 11:30 AM at the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY with Rev. Steve Dygert officiating.
