Dorothy Slife, 89, of Waverly passed away on Monday, July 11,2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital.

Dorothy lived her entire life in Waverly.  She is pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Nettie Kordinak, her sister June Kordinak, brother Stanley Kordinak, her first husband James Jackson and her second husband Leo Slife.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Mary Groves of Arcadia Florida, her daughter Colleen (John) Bartley of Floral Park, NY, her son Chris (Joanne) Jackson of Londonderry, NH, granddaughters Susan Jackson and Kathryn (Richard) Dart, and special niece Cindy Lu (Dale) Callear.  She is also survived by several extended family members from both marriages.

After graduating from Waverly High School in 1944, Dorothy began working as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and held other switchboard and office jobs before retiring from the Guthrie Clinic.

She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waverly where she was married to James Jackson in 1947.  Three years after his death in 1993, she married Leo Slife in Maui and remained married to him until his death in 2009.  With both husbands she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

Dorothy loved all kinds of crafts and became quite adept at knitting and needlepoint.  She continued to learn new crafts such as beading and painting with the assistance of the Elderwood activities staff.  She was very creative and talented in all her pursuits.

Dorothy valued all of her friends, many of whom were lifelong pals since childhood.  She often spoke of how much her friends meant to her and the good times they had over the years.

She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who thought the world of her family.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
