Dorothy S Williams, 95, after an extended illness went to be with her Lord on January 2, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. She was a devoted mother, grandmother of 3, great grandmother of 10 and great great grandmother of 4. She was surrounded by her loving family. She resided at Elderwood of Waverly for the last 6 years.
Dorothy was born in Sayre on January 17, 1919 to Edith Browning and Lyman Schermerhorn. She had one sister, Helen. She married Milton Williams on February 11, 1948. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Sayre. She is predeceased by her father in 1947, her mother Edith in 1979, husband of 50 years Bucky in August 1998 and sister Helen Randall of Clovis, CA in 1996 . Dorothy worked at Blue Swan Mills in the box department for many years and later as a store clerk for the Langans in Sayre. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law George and Virginia Williams of Sayre, grand children Karen and Bill Lane of Athens, Lori Belles of Sayre and John and Cori Belles of Sayre. Great grand children, Bryant of Pensacola FL, Ruby and Allen Lane and Alicia (Lane) and Dean Brown, Brittany and Michael Bostwick, Dannie Belles, Tylor, Zachary and Maddison Belles. Great great grand children Harley, Skylor and Beau Brown of Rome PA and Caydence Bostwick of Towanda. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be viewing hours at the Blauvelt Funeral Home 625 Broad St, in Waverly on Wednesday January 7 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Pastor Tom Randall of Kingsley, Michigan will be officiating. A very sincere thank you to Rev. William Wells for his devoted visits to our mother. Dorothy was a member of the Sayre Christian Church. We wish to thank them for everything they do. She will be buried at the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens.
