Biography

Edith M. LaFritz

Edith M. LaFritz, 93, of Waverly passed peacefully away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her parents, Francis and Fidelia Stedge; husband, Fredrick A. LaFritz; son, Ronald LaFritz Sr.; and grandsons, William R. LaFritz, and Freddy LaFritz; and granddaughter Darlene Dean; brothers, Lloyd, Ernie, and Floyd; and sisters, Frances, Hazel, and Ada. Edith is survived by her children, Rodney ( Connie) LaFritz of WA, Nancy (Robert) McCracken of Watertown, Richard (Glenna) LaFritz of Waverly, Russell (Sue) LaFritz of Waverly, Robert (Lois) LaFritz of Waverly, Hazel (Chuck) Sutton of Corning, Robin (Bernadette) LaFritz of Waverly, Ricky (Faith) LaFritz of Tioga, Ralph (Kwokling Yik) LaFritz of Brooklyn, and Ada Townsend of Waverly; sister, Iva Hoose of Waverly; daughter-in-law, Audrey LaFritz of Chemung; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Edith was a dedicated servant of the Salvation Army serving as a senior soldier, ringing bells for the Red Kettle Campaign for over 60 years, and serving with the canteen campaign for valley fire departments, and the League of Mercy. She enjoyed doing her crafts, spending time with her family here in the valley. She was a life long resident of Waverly, living in the same place for over 63 years. Edith, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma or Great-Great Grandma she will always be remembered for her love of her family, her kindness and her giving spirit. A time of gathering with family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5 to 6:45 PM with funeral services to follow at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Captain Debra Stedman of The Sayre Salvation Army officiating.
