Emery B. Young Jr, 61 of Waverly New York passed away suddenly on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
He was predeceased by his father, Emery B. Young Sr; and his brother, Steven Young.
Emery is survived by his wife, Denise Young; mother, Joan Young; son, Coby (Becky) Young of Waverly; daughter, Nicole Young of Waverly; granddaughters, Savannah and Gabriella Young sisters, Debbie (David) Casselman and niece Michelle of Tennessee, and Vickie Ellingwood of Florida; special niece Tairin (Andrew) Wilson and children; along with several other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He worked at Lockheed Martin in Owego for 42 years. He was an avid collector, enjoyed music, computers, fantasy football and going to the casino with his wife.
Emery was born September 3, 1955. He graduated from Waverly Jr. Sr. High School in 1973 & then started working at IBM, later Lockheed Martin until his passing. He was the most kind & generous man who was loved by all who knew him. Many considered him their role model & father figure. Emery always had a smile on his face & the most unbelievable laugh. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Washington Redskins & Baltimore Orioles. His favorite quote was “the second smartest man is the one who learns from his mistakes, the smartest man learns from others mistakes”. You will be dearly missed, husband, Dad, Papa, brother & uncle. Hail to the Redskins!
A time of calling will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 6:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Emery’s name to the Waverly Free Library, or the Food Pantry of one’s choice.
