Frank R. O'leary

Frank R. O’Leary, Age 88 of Waverly, New York passed  away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Elderwood Senior Care, Waverly, New York. 

Frank was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen O’Leary and his only brother, Joseph O’Leary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Bess) McKenna O’Leary; nephew, David (Arlene) McKenna of Newfield, NY; and many other nieces and nephews.

Frank served as chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1966 during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  Then he worked for the U.S. Government underwater systems in Newport, Rhode Island.  He then started another career at the Guthrie Clinic as a courier from 1989 to 1999 and then as a Guthrie volunteer another 10 years from 1999 to 2009.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 207 in West Springfield, MA and The Fleet Reserve Association.

He thoroughly enjoyed each of his careers and serving others.  He enjoyed watching baseball games and spending time with friends.

Frank was blessed by the wonderful care given by the Elderwood assisted living and skilled nursing staff.

A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. The celebration of Frank’s life will follow the visitation with Pastor Marvin Humbert  honoring  his memory at 4:00 P.M. where full military honors will be accorded.  A special tribute to Frank’s life will be presented on DVD during the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one’s favorite charity.
