Freda L. Stedge

Freda L. Stedge, 92 of Waverly, NY passed away on March 1, 2016 in her home.

Freda will be remembered by her sons, Bill Stedge and Jim Stedge; her stepson, Donald Stedge; and her daughter-in-laws, Ann Marie and Diana Stedge. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughters, Jenna Stedge and Jennifer Kijowski and her grandson, Tim Stedge as well as other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freda is survived by her siblings, Louise Ditchburn, Letha Robinson, Lela Smith, Martha Adams, Thelma Larrabee, Margie Bahr, Nancy Vargason, Harold Salsman, Glenn Salsman, and Fred Salsman Jr. She is also survived by her special friends, Dawn Myers, Betty Rose Blair, and Kate Wood. Freda was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Benjamin Stedge; her stepson, George Stedge; her parents, Fred and Effie Salsman; and her brother, Robert Salsman.

Freda was employed by Sayre Lingerie and Ingersoll-Rand. She enjoyed sewing blankets for baptisms and veterans, crocheting bonnets for babies in Hershey Medical Center’s NICU, working on her puzzles, reading, and spending time with her companion, Tinkerbell. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Waverly for many years. Freda will be remembered by her friends and family as a loving, hardworking person.  

At Freda’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the banquet room at the Rail House in Waverly, NY.
