Biography

Gary G. Schock

Gary G. Schock, 68, of Waverly passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, February 5, 2018 after a very courageous battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert M. Schock and Helen Irene Newbury; sister, Sherrie Sullivan; and uncle, Lynn Schock.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Julie Schock; children, Nichole Smith of Cortland, and Eric (Desiree) Schock of Waverly; sisters, Rhoda Jo (Christopher) DeSanto of Elmira, and Nadine (Mathew) Herrala of Barton; brothers, Daniel (Sharon) Newbury of South Waverly and Steve (Diane) Newbury of Waverly; sisters-in-law, Rosie Perry of Ithaca and Bonnie English of Waverly; sisters, Dawn Gibson of FL, Donna (Kim) Beckner of FL, Sallie Gibson of IL and Sharell Bates of IL; grandchildren, Jesse Schock-McCarthy and Kai Smith.

Gary was very proud of 21 years of sobriety.  He loved to watch NASCAR, football and WWE wrestling.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.  Most of all he loved his family.

A time of calling will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly where we will conclude the calling hours with full military honors by the Valley Color Guard.  Burial will be in Barton Cemetery in the Spring.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Gary’s name.
