Gerald “Jerry” L. Peterson, 68 of Waverly passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 1, 2017 at home.
He was predeceased by his parents, Delos and Phyllis Chandler Peterson; brother, Frederick Peterson; and sister, Ruthie Peterson.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Denise Peterson; children, Matthew (Vera) Peterson of Spencer, Amy (Shanon) Fenton of Laceyville, PA, Aaron (Katrina) Peterson of Lockwood, Tina Cole of Waverly, and Lisa (William) McCarthy of Waverly; sisters, Sandra Peterson of Waverly, and Lori Robinson of NC; 19 grandchildren, 1 great grandson; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.
Jerry loved his family, and always made sure his family got together. Jerry would often be found in his garage making memories with family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was a very honest man who wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was. He had a passion for cars which led to his employment at State Line Auto Auction as a mechanic for over 21 years, plus working at Searles Garage and Moores Auto Parts. He enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR and building cars with his sons. Jerry was proud of his military service, serving in the Vietnam Conflict for the US Army.
A time of calling will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York with Pastor Bruce Vanderpool officiating and where full military honors will be accorded at the conclusion of the services.
