Glenn E. Rogers, 75, of Lockwood passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 after battling MDS (leukemia) and a long cardiac history.
He was born on August 10, 1941 in Binghamton, New York to Glen Arthur Rogers and Mary Ellen Derrig Rogers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Susan Andrus Rogers. They were married on June 30, 1989 at the Lockwood Methodist Church, with his dear friends Bob and Laura Hoppe standing up with them. He is also survived by his two children, Glenn E. Rogers, Jr. (wife, Ces), and daughter, Mary Nichols (Brett); and his step-daughter, Holly Butcher (Dan); his sister, Helen (Rogers) Kirby and brother-in-law, Mal; special sister-in-law, Janet Andrus; and several wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by his very loved granddaughters, Lauren Nichols and Violet Rogers, and of course, his beloved border collie, Patrick. Glenn had the pleasure of knowing many great friends over the years whom he was very fond of.
He was a graduate of Horseheads High School.
Glenn was a retiree of IBM in Owego, NY as an Engineer. He also worked several other jobs after that: Gualiardo Plumbing in Owego; HEP Sales; and the last at Moore’s Auto, which he loved along with the Moore family.
In high school and after, he played in a band in Elmira called the Eshilons. His love of playing softball lead him to teaching girls softball. He was an avid hunter and longtime old car enthusiast, having restored many cars and was a past member of the Chemung Valley Street Rodders, AACA in Owego, NY, and Good Guys.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, June (Kent, Marks); brother, Edward A. Rogers (MDS); and his first wife, Bonnie Lindstrom.
A time of gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 10 to 12 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly. A memorial service will be held following at 12:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating followed by a gathering at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung Street, Waverly where all are welcome.
