He is survived by siblings, James P (Jane) Clinton, Sr of Waverly, NY; Jacqueline A Clinton of Waltham, MA; Jocelyn M (Francisco) Clinton-Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY; Jeanne M (Michael) Clinton-Hoagland of Waverly, NY; Jeffrey J (Kathleen) Clinton of Grants Pass, OR; step children Jennifer Crone of Norwich, NY & Jeremy McKean of Elmira Heights, NY; granddaughter, Kailee Peppard; several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, & cousins as well as his furry companion, Toby, who Joel loved with all his heart and will miss Joel dearly.
A resident of Waverly most of his life, Joel graduated from Waverly High School & furthered his education at Broome Community College where he earned an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Electrical Engineering Technology.
While in high school & working at O’Brien’s Restaurant, Joel earned high respect from its owner, Ed O’Brien. Upon earning his A.A.S., he was employed at General Electric, Johnson City, NY continuing employment there when the facility became part of Lockheed Martin. He subsequently was employed at Corning Incorporated in Horseheads, NY where he has worked for multiple decades alongside some amazing people and was granted 3 US Patents and 10 additional World-Wide Patents (Japan, India, China, France, and Germany).
During the golf season, Joel could be found at Tomasso’s Golf course in league play especially “with his girls” Sharon & Joy or involved in tournaments for fundraisers for one of the Valley Veterans organizations (Sons of the American Legion, VFW) and other causes. He also enjoyed his family’s sport of bowling where he was a member of many first place league teams and achieved one of its highest pinnacles – a 300 game. You could also find him playing a good game of Euchre at the Waverly American Legion or VFW.
Joel’s family wishes to heartfully thank all the Robert Packer Hospital staff who partook in Joel’s care, especially those of 6th Southwest and ICU/CCU who not only diligently, tenderly, and patiently attended to him but also offered caring support to his family.
