Biography

John E. Harford

“Let not your hearts be troubled, we say goodbye and heaven is saying welcome.  We leave our earthly family and join our heavenly family.  We grieve and heaven rejoices.  We lose and heaven gains.  We wage war that we might have peace.”

John E. Harford Sr, 81, of Horseheads, formerly of Sayre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Corning Center in Corning, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Viola Harford; first wife, Arline Harford; sister, Diane Buynak; brother, Richard Harford; and great grandchildren, Dillon Bailey and Kristian Naquin.

John is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Marlene “Sue” Harford; children, Linda (Tony) Squier of Mena, AR, MaryAnn (Steven) Hedgeland of Sayre, John (Jackie) Harford Jr of Running Spring, CA and Paul Harford of Mount Jackson, VA; cousin, Barbara Murphy; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews and many friends.

John was a 1956 graduate of Waverly High School who loved his family and being in the outdoors and woodworking.  He was active in Civil War Reenactments.  

A time of calling will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 11 to 1 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly, NY.  Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly with Rev.
