Joy S. Alvino, resident of Waverly, NY passed away peacefully in her home on November 19, 2020 at the age of 32.
Joy is survived by her parents, Joanne Alvino, Glenn Alvino and step mother Susan White-Alvino; fiancé and life long friend, Matthew Howard; her sisters, Kala Fliescher, Anita Noll and Jennifer Alvino; nephew, Tyler Souders; and many other close relatives.
She is predeceased by her grandparents, Kenneth and Georgia Gibbs, Julia Gibbs, Anthony and Mildred Alvino; uncle, Dale Gibbs; aunt, Joanne Alvino; cousin, Brian Farrow; and her cat, Mittens, who she thought of as a brother.
Joy was born on August 27, 1988 in Sayre, PA. She enjoyed working for many years at the Best Buy Distribution Center in Nichols, NY. Joy was very interested in Genealogy, she spent much of her time tracing her ancestry back 15 generations. She always wanted to travel the world, trying different foods and to visit Italy, where her ancestors lived. Joy loved cats and horses. She enjoyed writing, architecture, taking pictures of old buildings, and visiting the Alley Cat Café in Ithaca, NY. Her favorite time of the year was winter, seeing the snow made her happy.
Joy always looked up to her grandfather, Kenneth Gibbs and wished to be buried next to him at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, NY.
A gravesite service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery, 63 Stark Street Waterloo, NY, Section J. In her honor, donations can be made to the cats at the Alley Cat Café through the Browncoat Cat Rescue Nibbles Fund, http:gf.me/u/y9m9x6. The family is being assisted by the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York.
