Joyce A. Guilford

Joyce Allison Guilford, 72, of Waverly passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family and friends.  Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Marguerite Gaunt and her brother, Donald Gaunt.  She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Guilford; children, Shane Guilford of Waverly, Tracy (Guilford) Mennig of Waverly; daughter-in-law Kelli (Mannon) Guilford; son-in-law Craig Mennig; sister, Sharon (Gaunt) Edwards of Cape Cod, MA; Sharon’s partner Steve Loesch of Cape Cod, MA; granddaughters, Sydney, Michaela, Samantha, Zoe, Alexis, Ariana, and Jackson; sister-in-law, Pat (Guilford) Fette and brother-in-law Joe Fette, of Kilgore, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce was born in Waterbury, CT on August 20, 1943 to Walter and Marguerite (Casaly) Gaunt.  She spent four years in the Air Force where she became a dental assistant and spent many years practicing in Texas, Connecticut, and Vermont.  She later became a Certified Professional Coder and worked in the billing department of Resurgens Orthopedic Group in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  Joyce was active in community affairs throughout her life, donating her time and resources generously to charities.  She also loved and cared for her numerous pets.  She was an avid gardener and quilter, and loved spending time at the beach and her pool.  Joyce was kind and loving, made friends easily wherever she went and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, she retired to Waverly, New York where she lived out her days caring for her family and enjoyed watching her granddaughters playing in their many sports.

A time of gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 1 to 2:45 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY with a memorial service to be held at 3:00 PM with Rev.
