Louis Cecce, 78, of South Waverly was born on September 9, 1939 in Corning, New York to Albert and Angeline Cecce. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the comfort of his own home with his loving wife by his side after a battle with a long illness.
He was preceded in death by sister, Angeline; brother-in-law, Joe Wildrick and Bill Howe; son-in-law, Gayle; and nieces and nephews.
Louis is survived by his spouse, Bonnie Cecce; children, Dennis (Leah), Lisa (Mark); siblings, Albert, Larry, Sue, Marshall (Kaye); his grandchildren, Brandon (spouse, Christina), Tyler (spouse Amber), Mackenzie, Zachary, Katelyn; great grandchildren, Branson and Preston; special friends, Dick and Jan Blauvelt, Ike and Ann Rosh, Scott and Jackie Hillyard, Cindy Cecce and a long host of nieces and nephews.
Louis was always making others laugh with his endless amount of jokes and had quite the hand when it came to his card games. He is a 1957 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. Lou is also a veteran, as he was enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959. Lou was a very active individual when it came to the Boy Scouts, his involvement with the Scouts was for well over 20 years and ended with his last role as the District Commissioner. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. Lou enjoyed attending his 3 annual dinners with his graduating class from St. Anthony’s School. He also enjoyed going to his high school reunions.
A time of calling will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 10 to 12 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
