Margaret "Sue" Richards

Margaret “Sue” Richards, 85, of Waverly passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 20, 2019 with her loving family by her side.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harrison and Arrah James Barnhart; her loving husband of 67 years, Raymond Richards; sister, Leona (Roy) Schweiger (who raised her); brothers, Charles, Fred and Ernie Barnhart.

Sue is survived by her children, Tom (Joan) Richards of Waverly, Donald Richards of Waverly and Ann Richards of Englewood, FL; grandchildren, John (Kim) Richards, Tom (Linay) Richards, Danielle (Bill) Macauliffe, Jennifer Richards and Arrah Richards; great grandchildren, Kayla Richards, Morgan Adams, Gavin Richards, Meav Macauliffe, Emma Richards-Randall and Riley Macauliffe; special nephews who she was raised with LeRoy, Dave (Charlene), James (Grace), Phil (Linda) and Tim (Susan) Schweiger; sister-in-law, Joan Douglas, Jackie (Terry) Cole; brothers-in-law, Leslie (Julia) Richards, John Richards and Ray Cooper; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born in Waverly on January 27, 1933, she met her husband dipping ice cream at the Elba Ice Cream stand.  She worked for many years doing bookkeeping for Walt Manderville.  She also assisted Dr. Shaffer doing foot care.  She also worked in the family business, RSW, until retirement.  Her main joys was her family, always lending a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors and anyone else that needed it.  She loved to go camping and traveling.  She enjoyed bird and wild life watching.  She loved playing games – especially the card game golf.  She loved the beaches in Florida and collecting sea shells and making things from them.  She was a lover of all animals and loved yard sales.

A time of calling will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 3 to 5 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY.  A celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date.  Those wishing to send a message of sympathy to Sue’s family may visit our Facebook page or in “Obituaries” at www.blauveltfuneralhome.com
