Biography

Mary L. Decker

Mary “Sue” L. Decker, Age 58, of Elmira Heights passed away at home on February 24, 2021 surrounded by family.

She was born Mary, but as the story goes a family member preferred to call her sue, and it stuck for life, so some people call her Mary but to most she is Sue and her favorite names were Mom and Aunt sue (the cool aunt).

Sue is pre-deceased by her father, Raymond N. Decker; her mother, Virginia Decker (Rockwell); her brother, Raymond J. Decker.

Sue is survived by her son, Jacob Decker (Amanda) and she would want you to know he is her pride and joy; sibling, Terry Decker; nieces and nephews, Sallee Decker (Gumby), Kellee Bridges (Stephen) Bridges, Brandon Decker, Blair Decker and Audrey Decker; great nieces and nephews, Naporshyaa, Lanayshyaa, Calum, Deyton, Olyvia; Stormie Harbst (extended family) and her cousin, Gloria Morse; her dog, Wishbone, along with other several family and friends from the Elmira area to Buffalo as far as Canada.

Sue was well liked and made friends everywhere she went. Sue will be remembered for her love of storytelling and long talks and her big heart. Many will see Jack Daniels, sunglasses, and tie-dyed shirts and be reminded of a memory with her as these were some of her favorite things. She loved her family, her dog, her friends, she loved giving hugs and kisses and calling just to say I love you. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved hanging out with her son and going on adventures wherever he may take her, working in her backyard, and she was always proud of being able to take on home improvement projects and completing them all on her own. Sue will be greatly missed!

Family is planning to have a celebration of life gathering in the summer. We would like to say thank you to CareFirst for providing services that allowed us to keep Sue home and cared for.
