Nathan N. Gallow Sr, 97, of Lockwood passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Home with his family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Celia Gallow; first wife, Esther Gallow; daughter, Beverly Gee; son, Nathan Gallow Jr; sister, Jane Cardiff; and brother, Lawrence Gallow.
Nathan is survived by his son, Clifford Gallow of OH; daughter, Darlene (Jeff Wilson) Gallow of Lockwood; daughter-in-law, Debbie Gallow of Lockwood; brother, Fred Gallow of OH; numerous grandchildren and their families, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a great-great grandson.
Nathan was a proud WWII veteran, serving in the Army. He enjoyed his horses, hunting and dancing. He was involved in the creation of Route 17and Park Station. He farmed on Hiawatha Island. He volunteered to plow snow and help fight fires. Nathan was a member of the Barton Grange and a lifetime member of the VFW. He had a great sense of humor and was known as a jokester.
A time of calling will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Pastor Alan Bill officiating and burial to follow in Lockwood Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Memorial donations may be made in Nathan’s name to your local Veteran’s organization.
