Biography

Nona J. Suiter

Nona J. Suiter, 99, of Milan, PA passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Elderwood Care in Waverly, NY.

She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Easter Nanney Snypes; husband, Earl Suiter; daughter, Debbie Suiter; three brothers; and three sisters.

Nona is survived by her children, Wayne (Maria) Suiter of Atenas, Costa Rica, Cindy (Robert) Chichirico of Westminster, CO; Lois Kay (William) Wilson of Milan; and Cheryl Chua of Chula Vista, CA; brother, Earl Hensley Snypes of Ridgecrest, NC; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nona graduated from Nebo North Carolina High School and was a Proud Army WAC, serving from 1942 – 1944 during WWII.  While in the Army, she met and married her husband, Earl Suiter during a base lockdown.  She worked for many years at the Tioga General Hospital in Waverly as an Aide and worked at Robert Packer Hospital in the cafeteria and in medical records.  She volunteered for many years in North Carolina.  Nona enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crafts, sewing, cake decorating, knitting and baking. 

A time of calling will be on Thursday, July 5, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Pastor Jeff Lopo officiating with burial to follow at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens with full military honors.  Memorial donations may be made in Nona’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
