Richard Brautigam of Barton, NY passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020 surrounded by his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Maria Fechter Brautigam; his four daughters, Katharina (Andrew) Cattell, Franziska Brautigam Tamas, Gabriele (Ricardo) Fiorey, Erika (Ronald) Walsh; he was the beloved grandfather of Richard Fink, Stephen (Kelly) Fink, Nicholas Tamas, Sofie Tamas, Brigid Tamas, Elisabeth (Christopher) Wheeler, Kathrin (Max) Young, Christian Cattell, Nicole Fiorey, Evelyn Walsh and Mary Walsh. Richard was the proud great-grandfather of Tristan, Rylan, Finnian, Odin, Rowan, Hilde (Fink), Pemberley Fink, Chase, Max, Adam and Miles (Wheeler).
He is predeceased by three brothers and three sisters in Germany.
Richard was born on August 30, 1935 in Weisbrunn, Germany. In 1953 he emigrated to the United States. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood from 1955-1957. After his retirement from the Port Authority of NY/NJ, Richard and Maria relocated to Barton from Denville, NJ, moving to his dream farm, Weisbrunner Hof. There he enjoyed hunting, farming and fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 503 Clark Street, Waverly, New York with Rev. Daniel White officiating and burial to follow in St. James Cemetery in Waverly, New York. Richard will be missed by many members of his family, especially since he received so many blessings of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was surprised how much his family grew. Must say whenever I would meet one of the members we had such a nice time, thank you for making life special along with you guys. Love from cousin Didi and family.
