Richard "Dick" R. Elia

Richard Rocco Elia, Born March 19th, 1954 in Ithaca NY, grew up in South Danby, NY, the son of Lawrence R. Elia and Marcia Warner. He graduated from Spencer VanEtten High School. He was a SPEC IV, and served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1976. Raised on a 300 acre dairy farm he was an avid outdoors man. He loved working on machinery and motors. He built many outstanding Muscle Cars. He loved and rode motorcycles all his life.  A skillful carpenter, who worked for many years at Palmer Mobile Homes in Waverly, NY. Everyone who knew him will remember how much fun he was to have around and left everyone with hearty laughs and warm smiles. His family was the most important thing in his life.

He was predeceased by his father and brother Cpl. Gary L. Elia. He is survived by his wife DeeDee Elia Lockwood NY, his sons, Michael (Jackie) Elia, Erin NY, Brandon (Katie) Elia, and Gary Elia, VanEtten NY, Richard Elia, and Andrew Elia of Lockwood NY, David Elia, Elmira NY; daughter, Shonna (Josh) Vargo of VanEtten NY; mother, Marcia Fredrick, Lockwood NY; brother's, Ron (Joann) Elia, Lake Wales FL, Johnnie Elia, Geneva NY, Sonny (Ann) Elia, Lockwood NY; sister, Catherine Shea, Newfield NY; 15 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Step-children, Donnie and Dana Deprospero and their three children of Waverly NY, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends.

A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M, Friday, April 17, 2015, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. The celebration of Dick’s life will follow the visitation with Chaplain Duane Baker honoring his memory at 11:00 A.M. and burial to follow at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.
