Biography

Richard M. Dixson

Richard M. Dixson, 73, of Barton passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.  Dick was predeceased by his father, Edgar Dixson.  He is survived by his loving wife, Zella; mother, Ruth Dixson; children, Kandi Dixson of Waverly, and Kyle (Marsha) Dixson of Big Flats; sisters, Donna Stotler of Waverly, and Bonnie Dixson of Waverly; brother, Roger Dixson of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Cody and Casie; great grandchildren, Madi, Marlowe and Maxwell; his constant companion, Mackenzie; along with many nieces and nephews. 

Dick was an outdoors man who enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was a volunteer fireman with the Hook and Ladder Company in Waverly.  He was a member of the Moose and the American Legion.  Dick was a Lay Leader at the Waverly United Methodist Church in Waverly.  He retired after 40 years from the Grand Union and then returned to work at Ted Clarks for another 15 years.  He was a proud Veteran serving in the Army. 

A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 10 to 12 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York, 14892. The celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung Street, Waverly, New York with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung St., Waverly, NY  14892.  Those wishing may visit our Facebook page or send a private sympathy message of remembrance for Dick’s family in “obituaries” at www.blauveltfuneralhome.com.
