Robert J. (Bob) Houser, 60, of Waverly, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Cleveland Clinic with his family by his side.
Bob was born July 9, 1956 in Elmira, NY. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1974. He also attended SUNY Buffalo and Cornell University. Bob worked for over thirty years at ATMC in Owego, NY and most recently worked for Rynone Industries in Waverly, NY. He also pursued his interest in sustainable energy; producing biodiesel which then expanded into organic edible oils from seed to bottle.
Bob enjoyed restoring old cars, NASCAR, computers, and spending time with friends and family.
He is predeceased by his grandparents Mildred and James Hunter.
Bob is survived by his wife Melinda (Bodine) Houser of Waverly, NY; his mother, Patricia Hunter Dickinson and stepfather Fred Dickinson of Chemung, NY; a son James (Crystal) Houser; his daughters Lindsley (Chris) Dyno of Harrisburg, PA, and Jessica Houser of Charlotte, NC.; a sister, Robin Johnson and brother David Houser both of Chemung, NY; grandchildren Tenzing Houser and Jaxden Dyno; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friend Bill Hagios and wife Eunice of Horseheads, NY, and many friends who will greatly miss him.
A time of calling will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. A memorial service honoring Bob’s life will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
