Biography

Roberta M. Cundy

Roberta M. Cundy, 82, of Van Etten passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at home with her family by her side.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Rowena Mansfield Stedge; her husband, John G. Cundy Sr.; her sisters, Marilyn and Renay; and infant baby girl Sharpsteen.

Roberta is survived by her children, Debbie (Al) Sharpsteen of Waverly, John G. Cundy Jr of Hickstown, Jesse (Jacque) Cundy of Hickstown, Jill (Reggie) Wallace of Elmira and Lance (Cindy) Cundy of Van Etten; brother, Howard Stedge of the West Coast; grandchildren, Ginger, Kara, Kasey, David, Sinya, Reggie and Jillina; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Roberta was born in Elmira and went on to graduate from Elmira Heights in the Class of 1956 where she was an Alumni Member who proudly met each month for lunch.  She be worked at the Mark Twain Motel for years and went on to raise her family.  She retired after over 23 years at Borg Warner Automotive in Ithaca.  She was a member of the VFW Post #8139 auxiliary in Van Etten.  Roberta enjoyed sewing, camping, eating out, shopping and cooking Sunday dinners.

A time of calling will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10 to 12 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York.  A funeral service to honor Roberta’s life will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York with her cousin Pastor Bob Sinsabaugh officiating and burial to follow in Hicks Cemetery.  Those who are unable to join us may view the service on our Live Stream link at www.blauveltfuneralhome.com.  Memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post #8139, 3639 Wyncoop Creek Road, Van Etten, NY 14889.  Those wishing to send a message of sympathy to Roberta’s family may visit our Facebook page or in “Obituaries” at www.baluveltfuneralhome.com
