Thomas M. Higley, 59, of Sayre, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday June 8, 2017.
Tom was born on January 31, 1958 in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Thomas E. and June (Shellard) Higley. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Mildred Higley and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Rachel Shellard. He was also predeceased by his mother in law, Lillian Beeman.
Tom is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 26 years, Karen (Beeman) Higley; his son, Marshall T. Higley and his daughter, Elizabeth J. Higley both of Sayre, PA. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Susan and Charles Halton of Sayre, PA; sister and brother in law, Rosemarie and John Ephlin of Sayre, PA; father in law, Larry (Rose) Beeman of North Port, FL; brothers in law, Scott Beeman of Sayre, PA and Steven Beeman of Sayre, PA; sister in law, JoAnn Havey of Athens, PA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special great niece and nephews, Ella, Beckett, and Sullivan Kraft of Athens, PA. He also leaves behind his canine companion, Mookie.
Tom graduated from Sayre High School in 1976. After graduation, he worked at G.E. Railcar until becoming disabled. He was often found at Beeman’s Restaurant (family business) chatting with the customers. Tom had a deep love for his family and many friends. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports. He loved the outdoors and hunting. Tom had a fantastic sense of humor that always made us laugh.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a celebration of Tom’s life on Thursday June 15, 2017 at Halton’s Pond, 392 Rossi Road, Sayre, PA at 2 o’clock. Memorial donations may be made the Thomas Higley Memorial Fund c/o First Citizens Community Bank, 306 West Lockhart Street, Sayre, PA 18840.
