Biography

Vivan L. Chisari

Vivian L. Chisari, 78, of Athens passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at home with her loving husband by her side after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gladys Wilson Britney; and her brother, William A. Britney Jr.

Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert Chisari; children, Fred (Joann) Nelson of Spotswood, NJ, Raymond (Kathi) Nelson of Woodbridge, NJ and Colleen (Jim) Nelson-Bentley of Sayre; and her grandchildren, Rachael Nelson, Gina Graci and Breana Graci.

Vivian was an LPN who started her nursing career in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and went on to work in several hospitals and nursing homes in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania serving in various positions.  Her love of baking led her and her husband, Bob, to open Celebration’s Espresso Bar and Poor Bobby’s Sports Pub in Athens.  She continued with Celebration’s Catering and finally Mama Chisari’s Biscotti from home where they shipped her famous biscotti all over the world. 

A time of calling will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly with Pastor James Donahoo officiating and burial to follow in Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens.  Those wishing to send a message of sympathy to Vivian’s family may visit our Facebook page or by sending a private message of sympathy in “Obituaries” at www.blauveltfuneralhome.com
