William F. Stedge

William “Bill” F. Stedge, 67, of Lockwood, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home.

Born on October 21, 1949, he graduated high school from Waverly with the class of 1967 and went on to graduate college from Potsdam University in 1972.  He retired in 2013 after 41 years as an insurance field representative.

He served many years as Superintendent of the Youth Group at Niagara Presbyterian Church, directing numerous Christmas plays.  He was the proud founder of The Heir Force Puppets; a puppet ministry performing all over New York State as well as traveling to Jamaica twice.  He was the recipient of the Niagara Falls Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow Award as well as the Town of Niagara Lions Club William A Henchbarger II Citizen of the Year Award.

He is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Freda Stedge; brother, George Stedge; and his name sake, Uncle William “Bill” Stedge.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diana Rinehuls Stedge, brothers, Jim Stedge of Waverly and Donald (Winnie) Stedge of Unadilla; son, Timothy (Michelle) Stedge of Niagara Falls; daughter, Jennifer Kijowski of North Tonawanda; granddaughters, Crystal and Jocelyn Stedge and Autumn and Eva Kijowski; the mother of his children, Margaret Hillman of Lewiston, NY; special aunt, Betty Stedge; niece, Jenna Stedge of Waverly; sister-in-law, Christina Stedge and Ann Marie Stedge of Waverly; step children, Tiffany Daughdrill of Alabama, Danny Rollins of S. Carolina, Bobby Edwards of Alabama and Christopher Edwards of Ransomville, NY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and 10 step grandchildren.

At Bill’s request there will not be a funeral, viewing or memorial service.  Services are being handled by Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly, NY.  A private message of sympathy may be left for Bill’s family on our Facebook page or in “Obituaries” at Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to your local Humane Society.
