William G. Bennett, 84, of Waverly passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 as a result of complications for the COVID-19 virus.
He was predeceased by his parents, John T. and Velma Grace Leonard Bennett; brothers, Fred A. and Robert J. Bennett; daughter, Cathy Lyn Bennett; and his daughter; Billie Jo Bennett.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Capwell Bennett of Waverly; his first wife, Helen Bennett of Sparks, NV; children, John Neibel and Nancy Neibel, both of Manheim Germany and their mother, Lisa Neibel; special nephew, Thomas (Maria) Bennett; special niece, Sharon Bennett Metzner; brothers and sisters-in-law; Kenneth (Michelle) Capwell of Waverly, and James (Donna) Capwell of Sayre, PA; uncle Britt Leonard of Willseyville, NY; special cousins, Barbara Bennett of Nichols; nephew, John Dishler; niece, Kathy Milstead; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors. A special “Thank You” to all who shared in Bill’s life.
Bill served in the US Army from 1954-1957 serving in Manheim, Germany with the 25th USAR Tank Battalion and was honorably discharged. He worked for over 33 years at Westinghouse in Elmira. He enjoyed watching TV, playing his Martin Guitars, Chevy trucks and sitting on the porch watching the trains go by.
