William Stewart

William W. (Bill) Stewart, 78, of Waverly, NY died peacefully at home on September 20, 2018 after a long period of declining health.  He was born on May 26, 1940 in Coe, West Virginia to Carl and Clearendia (Prater) Stewart.  He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, David Edward Stewart and Lloyd Lee Stewart; father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Mildred Heath; son-in-law David K. Conner and brother-in-law, John J. Lazo.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Dorothy (Heath) Stewart, Waverly, NY; daughter Valerie Conner of Port Orange, FL; granddaughter Morgan (Anthony) Collins of E. Stroudsburg, PA; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, Giada and Greyson.  He is also survived by his brother William Harold (Linda) Stewart of Newark, Ohio; sisters Genevieve (Ralph) Huffaker and Darlene Roberts of Norwalk, Ohio; brothers-in-law Robert L. Heath of Fountain Hills, AZ and Richard L. (Nancy) Heath of Albuquerque, NM; sisters-in-law Kathryn Baker of Corning, NY; Martha (John) Walker of Tioga Center, NY; Roberta Lazo of Apalachin, NY and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill worked at Tioga Casting Facilities in Owego, NY from January 1967 until it closed in September 1987.  He retired from Industrial Paint Services in Owego in July, 2002.  Before and after retirement, until October 2004, he worked at Warner's Stoker Stoves and Coal in Candor, NY.

Bill loved hunting and fishing and most of all camping with his “lake family” at Pine Cradle Lake Campground in Rome, PA.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and also foster Dad to over 20 children.

There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018  at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street Extension, Waverly, NY.  A memorial service will be held at the Tioga Center United Methodist Church, 3022 Route 17C, Tioga Center, NY on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
